Everyday Math Units: Math is done as a whole group lesson and a Math Menu is followed to complete the individual work or play the game that goes with the lesson.

Reading: Writing is done in a workshop format. The first 10-15 minutes starts with a mini-lesson. Within the mini-lesson, there is a connection, teaching point, active engagement, and a link. It has the feel of an "I do, we do, you do", feel. Some units require students to work in book clubs (small groups) and other times they meet with a single reading partner.

Word Study:
We use the Words Their Way Program. Students take a pre-test which determines what group they are in. Students are shared throughout all of the third grade teachers with typically 2-3 groups per classroom. A typical week to practice their words look as follows:
Monday: Cut and Sort words
Tuesday: Speed Sort
Wednesday: Buddy/Blind Sort
Thursday: Spelling City
Friday: Test
